Sports and housing complex Bree
From Hospital to Haven
The Sports and Housing Complex De Weeg will transform an outdated hospital site into a vibrant campus, seamlessly integrated into a lush green park that serves as a community hub in Bree. The project includes two large sports halls, a gymnastics hall, two dojos, swimming pools, a paddling pool, a catering facility, offices, and 36 social multi-family homes. The design features a compact arrangement of functions, creating a cohesive and functional space while reducing the complex's scale through landscaping.
An iconic residential tower, built entirely of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), will provide social housing and act as a visual landmark for the campus and the city. This initiative aims to lead in sustainability while fostering community interaction and well-being.
