Blokbos Lot
A Playground for Learning
Blokbos Nursery and Primary School encompasses two distinct sections: the original boys' school from 1933 and a playful 1965 extension of cubic pavilions. Each building has its own outdoor area and separate entrances along Beerselsestraat and Blokbos.
The proposed redevelopment aims to unify the site following the demolition of the old town hall. A new reception building will feature a defined plaza for parents and staff to gather before and after school, alongside facilities for school and after-school care programs. The existing boys' school will be expanded to accommodate all primary classes, enhancing connectivity between playgrounds and upper floors with a new tribune staircase.
The reception building will connect directly to the primary school and include spaces for philosophical classes, technology, and a teachers' lounge. Adjacent areas will be transformed for kindergarten and after-school care, introducing a gymnasium, modern kitchen, and multipurpose classroom. Redesigned playgrounds will feature more greenery and tailored activity zones.
