GO! KA Grimbergen
Stronger together: school and community united.
In the center of Grimbergen, two adjacent educational facilities—a primary school and an Atheneum—require a new masterplan to enhance their connection and collaboration. The project includes constructing a new two-story school building for primary 5th and 6th graders and secondary 1st and 2nd-year students, alongside a shared multi-functional sports facility for both schools.
The new school features modern classrooms designed for co-teaching and innovative learning landscapes, including flexible spaces for instruction, individual study, collaboration, and small amphitheaters. Strategically positioned, the building acts as a bridge between the two sites, fostering interaction.
The sports complex, located along a main road, serves as a barrier against traffic while providing a distinct and accessible address for the community. Designed to be multi-functional, it meets the needs of both students and external users, promoting broader engagement with the facility.
