Transformation: A school is given a new lease on life
The former school building in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw has been transformed into 14 apartments, blending seamlessly into a neighborhood of classic villas and single-family homes. The project enhances residential diversity and green spaces while creating (semi-)public areas.
By removing unnecessary structures, sunlight and views were restored, and the main volumes were repositioned to improve accessibility. Each apartment features gardens or terraces, with careful attention to materials and design. A small internal street provides individual access.
In addition, the eastern section will replace existing multi-family housing with nine new single-family homes, each with a private garden and access to a communal area. Renovations and extensions of some nearby homes will further diversify residential options, contributing to the neighborhood's long-term sustainability and appeal. This development effectively increases residential density while preserving the street's aesthetic.
