De Duizendpoot
Combined nursery and primary school in De Duizendpoot. - Design & Build
De Duizendpoot School in Berlare aims to integrate nursery education on its primary school site by demolishing older, partly vacant buildings. This will create space for a compact two-story structure housing the nursery, part of the primary school, and two multipurpose rooms.
Positioned next to the sports hall, the new building maximizes playground space and faces all four directions, enhancing its identity within the community. Its strategic placement ensures compliance with boundary regulations and supports a landscape plan with distinct zones for various age groups.
The building features three distinct zones. The multifunctional area near the entrance and playground is vibrant and designed for diverse activities. The atrium acts as a transitional space between the multifunctional zone and classrooms. Classrooms are located next to a green area, providing a tranquil learning environment. Enclosed outdoor spaces on the ground floor and terraces on the first floor offer secure, accessible areas for students.
