Erasmus University College
Old School, New Tricks
Building on the feasibility study of the Erasmus University College Jette campus, OSK-AR, in collaboration with Abscis Architects, is developing an integrated design that addresses program expansion, budget constraints, and separation from student housing. A new circulation plan has been created to enhance clarity, separate traffic flows, and increase greenery, resulting in high-quality outdoor spaces.
The existing structure serves as a framework for the redesign, aligning new functions with its layout. Areas with high ceilings will host gyms, while denser zones will accommodate meeting rooms and research labs. The renovation focuses on efficient space organization and respects the current building layout to minimize costs.
A central open 'agora' will be the heart of the campus, connecting all programs and common functions. Additional elevators and staircases ensure accessibility and safety, while the grandstand staircase promotes vertical connectivity and enhances natural light, improving overall orientation within the building.
