A Compact and Cozy Campus — Design & Build
Nestled within a central park in Appels, Dendermonde, Basisschool de Oogappel harmoniously blends into the residential surroundings. To achieve this, the school is a two-story building, tucked away in greenery. A welcoming public space at the front serves as a buffer, creating a green gathering spot for students, parents, and neighbors.
The school's compact design maximizes the outdoor space for students. The youngest learners have their own dedicated outdoor area and a cozy atrium on the ground floor. Older students on the first floor enjoy a central atrium connecting them to the outside world, a sports hall, and a multipurpose room.
